Why We Love It
Handcrafted in Kyoto by Kozaki Ogawa and the innovative Kosho brand, this large Ougi Tote showcases an award-winning design that seamlessly blends the timeless motif of a Kyoto folding fan with modern functionality.
The Ougi tote opens up into a fan shape, revealing a hand-dyed ensō artwork. The ensō, a circular motif that symbolizes enlightenment, truth, and Buddha-nature, is a central theme in Kozaki Ogawa's creative work. Drawing inspiration from Zen calligraphy and painting, the ensō is drawn in a single sumi-e brushstroke, embodying a mirror that reflects one's own heart.
Crafted from 100% cotton canvas, this tote is designed with practicality in mind. Equipped with 3 built-in pockets, a popper closure for added security, and long handles that can be worn over the shoulder, it's perfect as an eco-friendly shopping bag.
This outstanding design has won numerous awards, including the Gold Award in the Omotenashi Selection and the prestigious Kyoto Design Award. This original tote bag is not only a statement piece, but also a meaningful tribute to the unparalleled craftsmanship of Japanese artisans.
How to Care for Your Canvas Tote
This tote bag can be conveniently washed in a washing machine, making it easy to keep clean. It can also be ironed to keep it looking neat and wrinkle-free. However, please do not use bleach as it may damage the fabric. To avoid shrinking or damaging the bag, it's best to avoid tumble drying and instead shape it and hang it out to dry in the shade. By following these care instructions, you can ensure that your tote bag remains in good condition and lasts for a long time.
